Sex and the District (Sans the Sex)

The title is strictly a play on words and not meant to portray anything in the lewd sense. And I have to say that in case my mom happens to stumble across this, which she does surprise me from time to time with her ability to properly send me online news articles without the oodles of mistyped HTML markup that usually happens.

I realized that 9 months ago to the day, I arrived in DC, and it has been pretty much the same duration of time since I did anything with this blog. A lot has changed, but not a lot has happened if that makes any sense.

What has changed - I have new residency, a new time zone and a new age decade (I am trusting everyone that has said the 30's were their best years). What hasn't happened - Any change in my relationship status, a job promotion (and cost of living adjustment for that matter -_-) and me renewing my passport (this one haunts me everyday).

I always seem to get a spark of creativity at the end of the year, but I want to try to make a genuine effort to actively update. You know, because some minuscule amount of data in some "cloud" somewhere is being wasted. I have some post topics, mostly about my life in DC so far, and I will try to throw in some classic Ansleyisms as well.

I hate 3 out of 6 of the main characters from Perfect Couples...

I have seen three episodes trying to see if I liked it or not, but I have realized I continue to watch it for the 3 tolerable characters since they are somewhat likeable. The other 3 makes me want to punch them in the face and then change the channel. Here is the order from most hated (top 3) to tollerable (last 3).
  • Mary Elizabeth Ellis as Amy
  • David Walton as Vance
  • Olivia Munn as Leigh
  • Kyle Bornheimer as Dave
  • Christine Woods as Julia
  • Hayes MacArthur as Rex
Amy and Vance are the "hipster" couple, but they come across as arognant and douchy. Amy is just a bitch and not funny at all. Writers, take note, making a tiny, cute woman mouthy with an attitude may have worked on "It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia", but not in a show where you are suppose to make the viewers like them.

Olivia Munn's character is another cliched conundrum, where the woman plays a successful, well dressed woman that acts childish, overly jealous and borderline cheesy.

The rest are just okay.Sorry I had to vent.

My Super Recap 2011

After a long night of open bar at the Fox Sports Super Bowl Party (thanks to the hook up from my sis), I have decided to park it on the couch and watch XLV just me and the two dogs.

I have already been interrupted making my pizza by the plumber guy saying we have a busted pipe under the deck. But I am going to try my best at giving the "Best Of"s:
  • Lea Michele singing God Bless America - Does she always look like she is acting?
  • Cristina Agulara singing National Anthem - Thank you for proving all those SNL skits right
  • Prologue by Michael Douglas - Brought a tear to my eye
  • Dieon Sanders tossing the coin - Always looks like a P.I.M.P
  • Jerry Dome looking pretty awesome.
Favorite Commerical so far: The Doritos one where Doritos crumbles bring Grampa bag from the dead.

I really want to see Cowboys & Aliens.

No Strings Attached - Movie Summary

Granted I haven't seen it, but just from the previews I can imagine as much.

So the only person of the opposite sex that an overworked woman doctor sees is also someone that she has lots of sex and shares intimate moments with. And she tells stories of said man to her group of gal friends. Yeah, that is her boyfriend. String are attached. End of movie.

Hope you found this helpful.
