My Paleo Challenge

My resolution this year was to not make resolutions. But I do have a couple life goals I wanted to get better at:
  • Be a better friend
  • Save money. Yes, cliche - but I am 30 now and the fact that I have more debt than I did in my "irresponsible" 20's pisses me off. Plus, a good friend once said "I can't tell my children about a really great pair of shoes I once owned". Life experiences are what matters.
  • Stop caring about to the stupid stuff. Stupid stuff is subjective, but I waste a lot of energy on things that just don't matter, rather than focusing on the things that do. *Insert famous Camus quote here*
I wasn't going to make any weight challenges because I have gotten in a habit of working out and eating a little better and will continue that. But then my friend is starting the 30 Day Paleo challenge next week through his Crossfit class, so I am pigging backing off his notes and doing it as well.

Another friend also swears by the Primal Blueprint. After looking through an e-loaned digital book, it is a lot like Paleo, but focuses more on it being a lifestyle than a diet. There are differences, and honestly just at first glance I think I would like the PB diet more. Although you can't have potatoes in any of them. I freaking love potatoes. And not just the french fried and chip kind. There is nothing I love more than a oiled and salted baked potato, slowly cooked in the oven for over an hour and then split open, patted with butter, salt and peppered, sprinkled with cheese and then a dollop of sour cream. Damn, I could never give that up.

So come Monday, hell on earth starts for me.
